2012 Big 12 NCAA March Madness College Basketball tournament excitement:

2012 NCAA College Basketball Tournament - The Big 12

The NCAA March Madness College Basketball tournament is underway and people are excited.  There are six teams that are representing the Big 12 Conference this year.  The Big 12 Conference hopes all of their teams will do well and play their best basketball of the year to continue to advance.  The first 3 teams, Baylor, Kansas State, and Iowa State start off the NCAA 2012 College Basketball tournament with wins.  We anticipate the first round for Missouri, Kansas, and Texas.  Go Big 12!

Baylor Wins– The Baylor Bears were placed in Southwest Region as the 3rd seed.   They defeated 14th seeded South Dakota State during the first round in Albuquerque, NM.  These teams were thought to be an even match having the same record for the season of 27-7 but Baylor faced a higher level of competition in the Big 12.  The Big 12 is seen as a much stronger conference than the Summit Conference.  Baylor’s 7 losses were during Big 12 Conference play.  Baylor was predicted to make it through the 1st round and succeeded.   The Bears defeat the Jackrabbits in a 68-60 victory.  South Dakota had a 12 pt lead early on and fought hard in the final minutes of the game, but could not overcome the Baylor Bears in the end.  Great Start Baylor.  Go Bears!

Kansas State Wins – The Kansas State Wildcats college basketball team ended the season with a 21-10 record and finished 5th in the Big 12 Conference.  The game between the Wildcats and Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (with a 25-8) record faced off Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Pittsburgh, PA.  The Wildcats move on to round two by defeating Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles by 14 points.  K-State got a good lead on Southern Mississippi but Old Miss caught up quickly.  Old Miss took at 4 point lead in the second half but the Wildcats took an 18-6 run and never got behind again.  Great win Wildcats.  Go win another one.

Iowa State Wins – The Iowa State Cyclones college basketball team were awarded the #8 seek in the South Region.  To end the opening day for teams in the NCAA March Madness College Basketball representing the Big 12 Conference the Iowa State Cyclones play UConn.   This 8 and 9 seed match was expected to be a high intense close game with the winner due to play Kentucky this Saturday, March 17, 2012.   Iowa State advances to the next round by defeating UConn by a score of 77-64.  Keep it up Cyclones.

Kansas – The Kansas Jayhawks college basketball team won the Big 12 League for the 8th year in a row.  The Kansas Jayhawks were also awarded a #2 seek for the Midwest Region.  The Kansas Jayhawks have the possibility of playing in St. Louis for the Sweet Sixteen Semifinals.  Kansas finished their season with a 27-6 record.  The Jayhawks have the possibility of facing Roy Williams in the Midwest Region Championship pending winning which would be an exciting game for the Jayhawks playing against their former coach.  Jawhawk fans are also hoping to get the chance to play Missouri again because of their intense rivalry and since the Missouri Tigers are moving to the SEC next season.  Will there be another border war?

Missouri– the Mizzou Tigers college basketball team automatically qualified for the NCAA March Madness College Basketball Tournament because they won their Big 12 Tournament and were given a #2 seed for the March Madness NCAA College Basketball Tournament in the West Region.  The hopes of Mizzou Fans having the possibility of playing in St. Louis, Missouri in the Sweet Sixteen were diminished when they were placed in the West Region instead of the Midwest Region.  The Missouri Tigers ended their season with a record of 30-4 and are predicted to possibly make it to the final four in New Orleans.  They play Norfolk State on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Omaha, NE and hope to advance to the winner of Florida and Virginia in the 32.  Teams worry about Mizzou because they are fast and even though they are not a big team they shoot well and are highly proficient in scoring.  This short bench team is able to endure and keep things moving.  Missouri and Kansas have a chance to meet in the end.  That would be an exciting championship game considering the rivalry between these two teams.  Could it all end with such a huge rivalry Big Dance game?  Mizzzouaholics and Hawkaholics are hoping so.

Texas – The Texas Longhorns college basketball team are the #11 seed in the East Region.  Texas finished their season with a 20-13 record.  They will face Cincinnati as their first NCAA College Basketball Tournament opponent.  These two teams play on Friday, March 16, 2012.  The Longhorns will have to bring their best game to win this one.  It would be a great way to start if all 6 teams representing the Big 12 Conference all win their first round.
